About
Welcome to chrissyyoga.com! I am a 500HR-RYT, Yoga Therapist, and Thai Yoga Massage Therapist trained through Purusha Yoga. Coming from an ECE background, I embrace the Social/Emotional benefit available to all ages through a 5 Kosha, 8 limbed practice. My classes are integrated Hatha Raja flow with an emphasis on breath, alignment, and accessing the present moment. I seek a playfulness, or beginners mind, in my teaching, while still holding the truth of yoga philosophy.
I started chrissyyoga.com to expand access to the wisdom of yoga towards maximizing the joy of living in the present moment. Striving to be inclusive, my group classes are all donation based. With the Willard Park Yoga Collective, of which I am a co-founder, I offer outdoor instruction in a public park that belongs to all of us. In my Berkeley office and online I offer additional group classes, private instruction, holistic yoga therapy, Thai yoga massage, and Reiki. I live and teach on unceded land of the Lisjan Ohlone.

Keep These Classes Going!
My classes are all value for value. Suggested donation is $10-$20 per class. If you feel moved and it’s in your budget, please select one of the below options to donate what you’re comfortable with. Yoga belongs to us all! If you can pay-it-forward for those who may not be able to, we can keep these classes open to everyone. Thank you for practicing with me! It is the greatest gift of all.

What is Yoga Therapy
Yoga therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment and practices to engage the client’s energy and awareness directly into their desired goals. These goals may include eliminating, reducing, or managing symptoms that cause suffering; improving function; helping to prevent the underlying causes of dis-ease; increased self awareness; and moving toward vital health and well- being, all while shifting your relationship to your current situations, conditions, and mindsets.
Yoga, which literally means “to yoke”, views humans as a multi-dimensional system that includes all aspects of body, breath, mind, intellect, and emotions and their mutual interaction. Imagine what life would look like if you brought your full self to bear on the path to your goals. Yoga therapy helps cultivate a wholistic relationship with the very core of your being to let it guide you forward through a customized program to foster the personal lifestyle you want. Whether you wish to improve your physical health, recover from an injury or trauma, improve mindfulness, reduce stress and anxiety, or transition to a new path, yoga therapy is relevant for all goals. $100. per session
Scope of Practice:
Asana, Pranayama, Chakras, Chanting and Nadi Yoga, Thai Yoga Massage, Eight Limbs, Meditation and Guided Journeys, Yin and Restorative, Mat Pilates, Chair Yoga, ECE, Pre and Postnatal, Yoga Philosophy and Ayurveda, Tarot, Mindful Eating, Goal Setting and Attainment
What is Thai Yoga Massage?
Thai Massage moves you through a series of yoga-like stretches and movements while opening the body’s fascial lines with a combination of soft-tissue manipulation, acupressure, rhythmic compression and stretching. It combines deep muscular and energetic work with fluid movement, affecting the recipient’s entire self. It improves flexibility, releasing both superficial and deep muscular tension, promoting relaxation, and quieting the mind. The effect leaves the recipient feeling both relaxed and energized.
Unlike typical Western style massages, you lie fully clothed on a mat on the floor while a practitioner uses stretching, pulling, and rocking. Sessions are usually 60 to 90minutes, and a therapist may use their hands, elbows, forearms, feet, and knees to loosen fascia, relieve tension, improve your flow of energy, and promote all around well-being. $100. per session
